Jones County Justice Court Judge David Lyon set bond for Harry S. Campo Jr. at $100,000 Wednesday afternoon. Campo was arrested by the Jones County Sheriff’s Office and charged with sexual battery involving his underage child. The charge is a felony.
The act with the young child allegedly took place on February 9 at Campo’s residence on Rushton Road, according to information that a witness gave to law enforcement authorities.
The witness, who had stayed overnight at the residence, said, according to an affidavit, that she “heard a gagging noise coming from the living room area” of the house as she exited a bedroom the next morning, so she looked into the living room and observed the unlawful sexual act taking place. According to the affidavit, Campo stopped the sexual battery when he realized he was being observed. The witness left the house shortly after the alleged incident and contacted authorities.
“If you make bond, you are to have no contact with this victim whatsoever,” warned Judge Lyon.
