On Monday, September 23, at approximately 7:00 a.m. the Jones County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the Bridgewater Subdivision in Ellisville for a possible hit and run accident.
The female victim, who was a pedestrian, was pronounced dead at the scene. She has been identified, but the name is not being released at this time. The alleged driver of the vehicle, Erik Evans, 38, of Ellisville, turned himself in to the Ellisville Police Department after he was alerted to the incident. He is currently charged with leaving the scene of an accident, with additional charges possible. That's according to information released from the Jones County Sheriff's Department.
The investigation is underway and is a joint effort with Jones County District Attorney’s Office.
