On Sunday, March 31, at approximately 7:00 a.m., Laurel Police Department officers responded to a shooting in the 100 block of Maplewood Drive.

Officers located one male subject suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The subject was transported to SCRMC for treatment and remains there today. The shooter surrendered to LPD at approximately about two hours later.

After considering the witness statements, the crime scene and consulting the District Attorney, the shooter was released pended a grand jury review. At this time the shooting appears to be in self-defense. LPD would like to thank Investigator Wayne Black of the District Attorneys Office for his assistance. Investigator Evans is assigned to the case.
