Update – The deceased female has been identified as Teeka Hemphill Carnegie (white female, 39 years of age). Carnegie had no address in this area. Her relatives who were notified reside in Louisiana and Texas. LPD is still awaiting the results of her autopsy. The investigation is ongoing.
(April 10, 2019) - On Tuesday, April 9 at approximately 3:30 p.m., Laurel Police Department officers responded to a report of a possible deceased person behind a residence in the 100 block of South 13th Ave.
Officers did locate a deceased female at the location. The body has been transported to Jackson and investigators are awaiting the results of an autopsy at this time. The death investigation is ongoing and no further information can be released.
