Petal Police are searching for three suspects who broke into the Carter’s Jewelry store in Petal early Monday and stole an undetermined amount of jewelry.
According to store employees, the trio came up to the store in a newer model slate gray Ford Explorer with no license plate.
“The men pried the doors open and were in and out of the store in two minutes and 30 seconds,” a news release from the store management said. “They smashed eight cases, stealing hundreds of pieces of inventory. The full amount stolen is still unknown.”

Store personnel said they planned to repair all damages and replace inventory Monday and to reopen at 10 a.m. on Tuesday.
“While we are startled, we are very thankful that this happened after hours as the safety of our team and employees always remain our first priority,” the release said. “We are a small family business that has been around for 32 years. It was so shocking to see something like this happen in our beautiful town, but we are so thankful for the support of our local law enforcement and community”
