The latest on the Severe Weather event expected to be in Jones County and surrounding areas on Saturday, January 11, is in from the Jones County EMA and the National Weather Service in Jackson. Most of the Pine Belt, including Jones County, remains under an Enhanced Risk for a severe weather outbreak, which is expected to enter the area between 8 a.m. and noon on Saturday morning, January 11. Widespread damaging straight-line winds in excess of 80 m.p.h., tornadoes, some of which could be strong (EF2+), and large hail are all possible. The fast-moving system will result in 1-3 inches of rain areawide, which can result in localized flooding.
