Ovett, Glade, M & M, and Union volunteer fire departments responded to a structure fire at 11 Ovett Scarbrough Road at 10:10 a.m., the second structure fire in Jones County on Wednesday, February 26.
A passerby activated 911 when he noticed flames and smoke as he was passing by on Highway 15. Upon arrival of the fire units, the mobile home was fully involved and a defensive attack began.
Resident Susie Pitts, who was reportedly in the process of moving from the home, was not present at the time of the incident. No injuries were reported. JCSO and Emserv were also on scene.
The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Jones County Sheriff's Department.
