National Weather Service in Jackson

Jones County EOC Executive Director Paul Sheffield reported the latest information from the National Weather Service is that Jones County remains in the enhanced threat level for severe weather late this afternoon.  “Our threat level is still enhanced,” reported Sheffield. “This means we can see damaging wind gusts, tornadoes, and large hail. The time frame for Jones County has been moved to 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.  We will be monitoring the weather throughout the day and will advise should the situation change. We will be opening the Safe Room located at 1425 Ellisville Blvd at 2 p.m. today and the safe room will remain open until the threat of severe weather has past Jones County.”
