The Jones County EMA has developed the following plan to provide shelter to those affected by the Easter Sunday Tornadoes and others who will need to seek shelter this Sunday, April 19.
- The Jones County 361 Safe Room will open at 10 a.m. Sunday morning.
- The CDC and MSDH guidance related to COVID-19 will be followed.
- The storm victims from Easter Sunday are currently being notified by the Jones County EOC of the potential severe weather for tomorrow and are checking to see if they have transportation to the Safe Room.
- The Jones County School District is working with the Jones County EOC to develop a plan to allow school buses to ride the routes and pick up any citizens that need a ride to the safe room. The buses will run at 10 a.m. Sunday morning and will return the citizens at approximately 10 p.m. Sunday night or as soon as the threat for severe weather has passed the area.
- Mask and hand sanitizer will be available on the buses for the passengers and drivers, and also at the safe room when persons sign in.
- If you know of anyone that needs assistance with a ride or other unmet needs, notify the EOC by calling 601-649-3535.
