Wednesday morning, the Impact received a recorded phone call telling us that we have not paid our power bill with Mississippi Power and that it will be cut off in 20 minutes unless we called a special number. Of course, our accounting department suspected the call right away and contacted Mississippi Power using the phone number on our bill statement. We weren’t the only recipient of the scam call. Mississippi Power was inundated with phone calls Wednesday morning. Below are tips from Mississippi Power.
Things you should know when doing business with Mississippi Power:
- Mississippi Power will never send an employee to your home or business to collect payment.
- Our employees will never call or visit you and request your personal or financial information.
- If an employee has a service-related reason to visit, they will ALWAYS:
- Wear a Mississippi Power uniform or apparel with a logo.
- Arrive in a Mississippi Power vehicle with our logo.
- Present a photo I.D. with the Mississippi Power logo.
