A three-vehicle accident on West Seventh Street about 7:30 a.m. Friday broke the gas main and resulted in one fatality, according to Hattiesburg Police Department officers.
HPD Public Information Officer Ryan Moore said one driver died at a local hospital after he was transported from the scene by ambulance. No other injuries were reported.
The roadway will remain closed until the gas main is repaired.
