(Jones County) A traffic stop on March 18 on Highway 84 West near Big Creek by the Jones County Sheriff’s Office resulted in three people being arrested.
According to the Jones County Sheriff's Department, the three arrested during the traffic stop included Jonathan Holifield, 31, of Laurel (MDOC parole violation warrant, possession of paraphernalia); Wyatt Herrington, 29, of Soso, (aggravated assault warrant and possession of paraphernalia); and Brittany Davis, 25, of Laurel (possession of paraphernalia).
Following the stop, investigators conducted a search of Jonathan Holifield’s residence. At the residence Lauren Wilkerson, 20, of Laurel, was taken into custody for an outstanding Circuit Court Bench warrant. Investigators also recovered multiple firearms, suspected methamphetamine, suspected marijuana, controlled prescription pills, and assorted drug use and distribution paraphernalia. As a result, Holifield will face additional charges including possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute while in possession of a firearm and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.
The arrests were the direct result of tips from the public regarding suspected illegal drug activity over the past few months. The investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are likely in the near future.
