Three Mount Olive residents were arrested Thursday after a seven-month investigation turned over three firearms, more than $1,100 in cash and more than 130 grams of methamphetamine. These were seized by Covington County Sheriff Darrell Perkins and deputies.
Two people – Steven Hand, 28, of 79 Dennistown Road, and Steven L. Hand, 51, of 86 Dennistown Road – were each charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Samantha Cruise, 32, of 520 SCR 47, was arrested for the alleged possession of a controlled substance.
The Covington County Sheriff's Office also received aid in the investigation and bust with deputies from Smith County, Simpson County, and Jasper County, along with Magee Police Department officers and Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics investigators.
“They all came together to conduct a safe operation in an effort to battle crime in all of our jurisdictions,” Sheriff Perkins said. “Thanks to all who were a part of this operation. We shall continue to work to make our communities safer.”
