The Covington County Sheriff’s Department arrested 12 people Tuesday during a narcotics operation where the individuals possessed and/or sold illegal narcotics in the county.
Sheriff Darrell Perkins complimented the work of his department after the operation. “We’re trying hard to make a difference here,” he said.
Eleven individuals had arrest warrants issued for sale or possession before the operation, while eight were arrested and charged during the operation. Deputies also arrested four other individuals throughout the day for felony possession of a controlled substance as well as other charges.
Perkins said five individuals were arrested for misdemeanor charges including possession paraphernalia and justice court warrants. Three suspects were not located during this operation.
During the arrests, the Covington County Sheriff’s Department was able to seize out 50 grams of Methamphetamine, 120 grams of Marijuana, three grams of Crack Cocaine, Prescription Pills, and two handguns. Smith County Sheriff’s Department also assisted in this operation.
A list of all arrested and their charges as well as those that are still wanted is included. Bonds on these charges for those arrested were set by Justice Court Judge Bobby Wayne Mooney. Those arrested after initial appearance will have their bonds set at a later time.
