Hot Coffee fire

Several Jones County volunteer fire departments and fire personnel from Hot Coffee responded to a structure fire at 495 Highway 529 Wednesday evening just after 8:30.  The sole resident, Michael "Mike Mike" Owens, was the only person in the home at the time of the incident and stated he was asleep on the couch when he awakened to smoke filling the home.  He had only just went to sleep, after putting wood on the fire in the fireplace.  Owens evacuated the split level home and immediately called 911. 

Upon arrival firefighters found smoke engulfing the outside of the home and visible flames coming from the windows facing the street.  The home sustained major damage and roof collapse.

Hebron, Pleasant Ridge, Calhoun, Soso, and South Jones volunteer fire departments responded to the scene and were assisted by Hot Coffee volunteer fire department. 

Jones County Sheriff's Office was also on scene.  No injuries were reported.  JCSO will be investigating the incident.
