Houston, Texas, law enforcement officers picked up the third and last Covington County jail escapee Sunday when 30-year-old Christopher Love of Hattiesburg was apprehended during a routine traffic stop.

Love, Alex Knight, 32, of Seminary and Dillion Parr, 21, of Mount Olive climbed out of a jail skylight on Jan. 15. Knight was tracked to a home on Galjour Lane in Seminary, where he and another person were captured Jan. 30. Parr was captured near Hot Coffee by deputies on Jan. 17.

Covington County Sheriff Darrell Perkins said Houston authorities contacted him after Love was in custody.

“To my understanding, they arrested him on misdemeanor charges,” he said. “They ran his name through the system at the time. It showed up that he was wanted out of Mississippi, so they called us and we sent out a teletype showing that we do want to come pick him up.”

Love, who was charged with petty larceny, was booked into the Harris County jail, where he waits extradition.

After Knight’s apprehension, seven adults and a juvenile – including one adult who was shot – were arrested in connection with the jail escape. Perkins said Knight, who was being held on commercial burglary charges, was arrested at his father’s home while he was hiding under the kitchen sink.

During the arrest, Knight’s girlfriend – who was not identified – was shot when she allegedly attacked a U.S. Marshal. She is recovering in the hospital, Perkins said, who added charges are being considered in the incident. The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is looking into the shooting.

Perkins said the adults arrested were Paul Harvey, Megan Harvey, Phillip Knight, Audra Hernandez, Sebastian Hernandez, Keyanye McGowan and Helen Akers.

Parr was being held without bond after being charged with manslaughter-heat of passion in the November 2018 shooting death of his neighbor, Christopher Hand. Hand was shot once in the upper shoulder and neck area on Nov. 13, according to reports.

Hand was rushed to the hospital but died about 4:18 p.m. that day. His body was sent to the State Crime Lab in Pearl for an autopsy.

Parr made his initial appearance before Justice Court Judge Bobby Wayne Mooney on Nov. 14, 2018.
