Shortly before 3:00 p.m. this afternoon, several fire departments in Jones County responded to the report of a fire inside a bedroom of a mobile home. Homeowners Shay and Kayla Camp had returned home from a birthday party and noticed smoke in the home. Upon entering the master bedroom, Shay Camp stated there were flames which quickly spread after he entered the room.
Ovett, Glade, Union, Johnson and Moselle volunteer fire departments responded to the scene. Upon arrival of the first responding fire apparatus, firefighters found flames coming from the back of the home out of the master bedroom window. After an aggressive interior attack, most of the mobile home was saved with only smoke damage.
Shortly after the structure fire was reported, some fire personnel from Ovett, Boggy, Southwest and Glade volunteer fire departments who were already responding to the structure fire diverted to a brush fire and tractor fire at 18 Lawrence Ishee Road. In spite of limited manpower at the scenes, firefighters were able to significantly mitigate property damage at both incidents.
No injuries were reported at the incidents.
