A Hattiesburg couple was arrested and charged Tuesday in the shooting death of a 30-year-old man in his Lamar County apartment.
Johnathan Tyler Morgan’s shooting death was reported about 9:30 p.m. Monday at an apartment complex off Getaway Lane, just south of Forrest County.
Lamar County investigators and deputies quickly apprehended Jason Foy Crutchfield, 40, at about 12:15 a.m. Tuesday in a wooded homeless campsite area off Fourth Street in Hattiesburg. His wife, 36-year-old Amanda Justine Crutchfield, was also taken into custody.
Jason Crutchfield was charged with murder, while his wife was charged with accessory before or after the fact of murder. They have been booked into the Lamar County Jail.
Sheriff Danny Rigel said the investigation into the incident is continuing.
“We believe that a handgun was involved,” he said. “We are still working to locate it.”
