Imagine the opportunity to change the face of your town while the rest of the country watches. That is what Petal, Miss., is hoping will happen if the city is chosen by HGTV to be their first Hometown Takeover. Earlier this month HGTV announced its most ambitious renovation show yet: In a new series called Home Town Takeover, Ben and Erin Napier, the hosts of Home Town, will take over and restore an entire town.
Petal Area Chamber of Commerce Director Valerie Wilson recognized that this was a tremendous opportunity to change the look of Petal while helping to revitalize the downtown area. “Petal is an absolutely wonderful place to live, work and raise a family. However, we certainly can use a bit of refurbishing to make our town more attractive visually.”
The chamber partnered with Christy Tartavoulle of Local Media Solutions and Jonathan McGowan of JMac Productions to create a video for submission to the contest.
Wilson stated “I could never have produced such a high quality video without their help and expertise.” The Petal video was submitted to HGTV along with videos from other cities throughout the country. Now, it is a waiting game to learn which lucky city is the winner.
