A 50-year-old Hattiesburg man was arrested Wednesday night in connection with a shooting death in the Glendale community, Forrest County Sheriff’s Office investigators said.
Gregory Stephen Miller was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm after a felony conviction and is being held in the Forrest County Jail.
The shooting is still being investigated.
Deputies responded to a report of an accidental shooting on Gandy Avenue on Wednesday afternoon. Thomas D. Patterson, 49, of Petal was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Forrest County Coroner Butch Benedict said Thursday morning the body was taken to the State Crime Lab for an autopsy.
