On Tuesday, August 20 at approximately 4:18 p.m., Laurel Police Department officers responded to the 300 block of North Pine Street on a shooting complaint. Witnesses reported that the occupants of a silver dodge and a black Chevrolet had exchanged gunfire in the street.

The vehicles then proceeded to the 100 block of South Garden Drive, where further shots were fired, according to information released by authorities on Wednesday. Both vehicles and suspects were detained immediately following the incident. One suspect sustained a minor injury, was transported to SCRMC for treatment and has been released. Antonio Mitchell (27 years of age) stands charged with one count of aggravated assault and one count of drive-by shooting.

Christopher Applewhite II (26 years of age) stands charged with one count of drive-by shooting. Both suspects had their initial appearance in Laurel Municipal Court this morning.
