The Bay Springs Police Department was instrumental in the arrest of a wanted fugitive at the Hattiesburg-Laurel Regional Airport on Monday.
The Ridgeland Police Department in California notified BSPD Police Chief Richard Mays, Jr. of the arrival of a local, alleged fugitive in Mississippi on an airline.
Lakendall Alexander Holliday, 21, formerly of Bay Springs, was suspect to arrive on United Airlines flight 5056 Monday, and Mays, through information he received from California, immediately notified the Hattiesburg Police Department and the Jones County Sheriff’s Department of his pending arrival. The Hattiesburg Police Department and the Jones County Sheriff’s department were on scene at the airport to make the arrest.
Holliday was placed into custody shortly after his arrival. He has been charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and criminal street gang activity in Forrest County and remains in custody at the Forrest County Jail.
After facing alleged charges in the Hattiesburg area, Holliday is expected to eventually be expedited to face charges of burglary in Bay Springs. He is also expected to be turned over to the Mississippi Department of Corrections for a parole violation.
“Holliday would probably have made his way back to Bay Springs,” said Mays.
