A Jones County Sheriff's Deputy, Miguel Grimaldo, was shot this morning around 2:00 a.m. while working his part-time job as a police officer with the Sandersville Police Department. That's according to information released by the JCSD today.
The suspect, William Belk, age 33, is in custody after a vehicle chase which began in Sandersville and ended at Walmart in Laurel. Belk is from Pachuta, and his initial charges include armed robbery and aggravated assault on a police/fire/school officer with a weapon.
The Jones County Sheriff's Department and the FBI are investigating the incident which began with a vehicle stolen from the Bok Homa Casino.
