Lamar County schools will extend their upcoming Spring Break an extra week, following Gov. Tate Reeves’ request during a news conference Saturday.
Spring Break, which was expected to end Friday, March 20, will now extend through Friday, March 27, Lamar County Superintendent Tess Smith said Saturday.
“We will keep everyone updated throughout the week as the situation evolves,” she said. “Please continue to check our website for additional information. The district administration is working on a plan to continue classes where possible online.”
Smith said safety is the district’s main concern, and officials hope to provide educational opportunities.
“Our intent is to continue the education of our students as much as possible during this time,” she said. “This will all be communicated as we finalize the plan. Thank you for your continued support for the Lamar County School. Please keep yourself safe.”
