On Thursday Hattiesburg police charged an 18-year-old Hub City man in an ongoing shooting investigation. Kendrick McDuffie was charged with aggravated assault and conspiracy to commit a felony in the incident that occurred about 1 a.m. on Jan. 12 in the 1300 block of Corinne Street.

The same suspects are believed to have been involved in a capital murder later that night when Jamara Quadracus “Drake” Edwards was fatally shot about 6:15 p.m. in the 1300 block of Corinne Street.  Darrell Smith, 17, of Hattiesburg, has been charged with capital murder in Edwards’ death.
 
Other arrests included a 16-year-old male of Hattiesburg and a 15-year-old female of Gulfport, who have also been charged with capital murder. Additional charges are pending at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.
