ELLISVILLE – The employees and officials of the City of Ellisville are working to go that extra mile to be prepared to serve the public better.

Several city employees and officials are getting training to serve the people of Ellisville better.

The Ellisville Board of Aldermen has voted unanimously recently to approve several matters concerning training and employee improvement.

Ellisville Mayor Lynn Buckhaults and the Board of Aldermen recognized two city employees for their recent accomplishments.

Ellisville Deputy Clerk Suanne Harenza recently graduated from the Mississippi State University’s clerks’ training program.

Harenza has been participating in the Municipal Clerks and Tax Collectors Certification Training Program conducted by the Center for Governmental Technology at Mississippi State University Extension Service.

Officials said Harenza recently completed the three-year course and was awarded her certification.

Also, Ellisville Ward Two Alderman Jeffrey Williams recently graduated from the Mississippi Municipal League (MML) Basic CMO Course, a training program for elected officials.

Additionally, this week the Ellisville Board of Aldermen approved training for Emerald Wuertz.

Wuertz, a deputy clerk for the city, was approved to take a certified municipal clerks' virtual session October 7-9 at a cost of $200. This session is a part of the Municipal Clerks and Tax Collectors Certification Training Program conducted by the Center for Governmental Technology at Mississippi State University Extension Service. She is currently in her first year of the three-year program.

Mayor Buckhaults said the training is valuable to the city and the employees. He said the various trainings help prepare city employees for the jobs they perform.

Additionally, the city also sends its police officers, firefighters, and other public service employees to their respective state academies for their training and certification.
