Since Mississippi established its first child advocacy center in 1990, the Children’s Advocacy Centers of Mississippi’s (CACM) mission has been to improve the ability and skills of the state’s child abuse professionals to better serve the victims of child abuse.

Operating with this mission, in 2019, 6,196 children were seen at 1 of the 11 child advocacy centers directly connected to Children’s Advocacy Centers of Mississippi. Of these children, 2,498 received medical exam referrals, 3,695 received a forensic interview and 1,783 either received counseling or were referred to counseling. CACM also advocates for system improvements, vital training opportunities for students and advocacy professionals, as well as educational support to the public.

In early 2019, CACM unveiled its specialty “I Protect Children,” car tag to assist in spreading awareness and encouraging additional support in their efforts. Join the Children’s Advocacy Centers of Mississippi and fight to protect Mississippi’s children by purchasing a CACM car tag.

“Child abuse isn’t just a child’s problem or a family’s problem,” said Tonya Rogillio, Deputy Commissioner of Child Welfare. “It is a community problem, and this car tag will be a very visual reminder that it is the community’s responsibility to speak up when they are aware of a child who needs to be protected.”

Tags will be available to the general public starting February 24, so ask for CACM’s tag “I Protect Children” when you go to renew your vehicle tag this year. Your support means everything to the children of Mississippi.

Pre-ordered tags can be picked up at your local county tag office.
