The Jones County Sheriff’s Department has captured wanted felon Devante Blanks this afternoon at a motel on Ellisville Blvd. in the Pendorff Community. Sgt. Adam Cochran and Deputy Dave Gulley responded to a disturbance call at the motel involving an adult female.

While on scene, deputies learned that wanted felon Devante Blanks had just left walking south on Ellisville Blvd. toward Ellisville. Additional JCSD units, including Sheriff Joe Berlin, were requested to establish a perimeter and attempt to locate Blanks. As Sgt. Cochran rounded the corner of the motel office building to attempt to get a visual on the subject, Blanks was walking back up to the motel and was less than 20 feet away.

Sgt. Cochran immediately took Blanks into custody on a felony warrant for Failure To Register As A Sex Offender.

“We’ve been seeking Blanks on a felony warrant, and he has now been captured. Great job by Sgt. Adam Cochran and Deputy Dave Gulley on their response to an unrelated call that turned into a definitive lead on Devante Blanks,” stated Berlin. “There’s a lot to be said about being in the right place at the right time and asking the right questions.”

The female involved in the disturbance at the motel was not charged.
