The Jasper County Sheriff’s Department has made two significant drug busts over the past five days.
According to the department, two individuals were arrested last Thursday (January 10) during a traffic stop and approximately three pounds of marijuana was seized.
The traffic stop on Highway 528 in Bay Springs made by a JCSD Deputy at approximately 6:15 p.m. Thursday led to the arrests of Justin Lee Patterson and Shatoria Monique Porter. Both were charged with possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute, tampering with evidence, and trafficking of controlled substance.
On Tuesday (January 15), another was arrested by the department following a search of his residence and property around the residence where multiple drugs and money were seized.
Channing Latroy McCurdy was charged with sale of a controlled substance and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. During the search of McCurdy’s residence and property surrounding his residence three ounces of cocaine and a pound of marijuana were seized, as well a stolen firearm and $13,100.
