The second and third capital murder suspects were arrested Friday by the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force in Gulfport in connection with a Jan. 12 shooting in Hattiesburg that killed a Sumrall man.

The two individuals – a 16-year-old Hattiesburg male and a 15-year-old Gulfport female – were taken into custody in the 5000 block of 28th Street in Gulfport about 4:30 p.m. Friday.

Warrants for both individuals were served in connection to the shooting death of 25-year-old Jamara Quadracus “Drake” Edwards. Both individuals will be charged as adults.

No other information is being provided at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.

A 17-year-old Hattiesburg youth was taken into custody Thursday during a traffic stop on Lincoln Road near 40th Avenue and charged with capital murder.

With the assistance of the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force, Hattiesburg police arrested Darrell Smith, who was previously certified as an adult.

The investigation revealed that the shooting did not occur on Broadway Drive, but in the 1300 block of Corinne Street.

The investigation remains ongoing.
