Ellisville — At 6:58 a.m. this morning, several Jones County volunteer fire departments responded to the report of a structure fire at 566 Sandhill Township Road in Ellisville. The fire was reported by passersby who stated flames were visible from the road.
Upon arrival of the first responding fire apparatus from South Jones VFD, the home was fully engulfed in flames and the departments proceeded with a defensive attack. The home was occupied by an elderly male who perished in the blaze. No other injuries were reported.
Responding fire departments included South Jones, Southwest Jones, Union and Boggy volunteer fire departments along with Ellisville Fire Department. JCSO and Emserv were also on scene. The incident will be investigated by JCSO and the state fire marshal’s office.
