Poppy’s is my dream,” exclaimed owner Bryna Walker during the long-awaited ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday, July 17, to officially open Poppy’s Boutique.
“I decided to do something fun, wild, and whimsical to bring a different flare to downtown,” explained Walker. “I wanted it to bring color to the world. Poppy’s is different and is truly one-of-a-kind. I love things that are rainbow, glittery, and all things that make you smile. So, when you come into Poppy’s Boutique, I want you to enjoy fashion. We don’t want to dress identically, and that’s what you get at Poppy’s.”
Walker explained that she orders only a limited number of a particular item, and that way, there will always be something new for customers to see when they visit.
Walker announced that she and her husband Lance Walker will be expanding their business and will be opening a new boutique in Alabama soon. She is leaving Poppy’s in the capable hands of Store Manager Hanna Bush, her best friend.
Chamber Ambassador and long-time family friend Elaine Bullock presented Walker with her first dollar of profit framed from the Laurel/Jones County Chamber of Commerce.
Laurel Mayor Johnny Magee thanked the Walkers for being downtown and exclaimed, “Laurel’s downtown is still rockin’ and rollin’.”
