JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — A Republican candidate for Mississippi attorney general is revising a list of endorsements he says he received from sheriffs, removing two names from the original 12.
Mark Baker's campaign released the first list Thursday and the second one Friday. The second list deletes the names of Jones County Sheriff Alex Hodge and Lee County Sheriff Jim H. Johnson.
Baker's campaign manager, Chet Martin, tells the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal the campaign had a "miscommunication" with Hodge and Johnson.
Baker is a state representative from Brandon. He faces current state Treasurer Lynn Fitch and former Madison County supervisor Andy Taggart in the Aug. 6 Republican primary for attorney general. The nominee will face Democrat Jennifer Riley Collins in November.
The current attorney general, Democrat Jim Hood, is running for governor.
