Two Covington County inmates who escaped from the county jail Jan. 15 remain at large, and Sheriff Darrell Perkins said Thursday deputies are continuing to search for the pair.

Three inmates – Dillon Parr, Christopher Love and Alex Knight – escaped from the jail by tying sheets together and going through a skylight. Then they jumped down an awning and ran.

Twenty-one-year-old Parr of Mount Olive was captured near Hot Coffee by deputies on Jan. 17, while Love and Knight continue to be on the loose. Perkins said Knight, 32, of Seminary and Love, 30, of Hattiesburg will be sighted.

“They are going to pop up; it’s just going to take a little while,” Perkins said. “There are a lot of places to hide, and every day they can move to a new place to hide.”

Perkins was leading tracking dogs near Seminary on the day after the escape when someone thought they saw Knight in the area.

Parr was being held without bond after being charged with manslaughter-heat of passion in the November 2018 shooting death of his neighbor, Christopher Hand. Hand was shot once in the upper shoulder and neck area on Nov. 13, according to reports.

Hand was rushed to the hospital, but died about 4:18 p.m. His body was sent to the State Crime Lab in Pearl for an autopsy.

Parr made his initial appearance before Justice Court Judge Bobby Wayne Mooney on Nov. 14.

Perkins said Knight is facing a charge of commercial burglary. Charges against Love were not immediately available.
