On Friday, August 23, the Laurel Police Department, assisted by the Choctaw Police, arrested Nicolas Fransisco (33 years of age) on the Choctaw Reservation. Fransisco stands charged with one count of attempted armed robbery and one count of aggravated assault. Fransisco will have his initial appearance in Laurel Municipal Court on Monday, August 26.

The arrest is apparently connected to an incident on August 7 when just after 8:00 p.m. LPD officers responded to the Tienda La Libertad Store, which is located in the 1500 block of West 15th street on an attempted armed robbery complaint. It was reported that a Hispanic male had entered the store, brandished a handgun and struck the clerk several times before fleeing the scene. The clerk was transported by private vehicle for treatment at SCRMC, according to information released by the Laurel Police Department.

Any persons with information about this or any other case are encouraged to call LPD at 601-399-4440 or Crime Stoppers at 601-428-STOP.
