Temporary changes at Laurel City Hall and City Council Meetings

City of Laurel Mayor Johnny Magee

According to a press release from Laurel Mayor Johnny Magee, beginning Monday, April 13, and continuing through Friday, April 24, there will be one entrance into City Hall for the public and employees located at the handicap entrance at the rear of the building. Every person entering the building will have their temperature taken. If their temperature is over 100.4 degrees, the person must not enter whether an employee or a member of the public.

These measures are being taken to help slow the spread of coronavirus COVID-19 and to protect the health of the city employees and the public. The city will reexamine this procedure on Friday, April 24, to determine action for Monday, April 27.

Until further notice, Laurel City Council meetings will be limited to 10 persons with social distance seating in accordance with guidelines of Governor Tate Reeves’ Executive Orders 1466 and 1463.
