An Oak Grove man is being held without bond in the Lamar County jail on murder charges after sheriff’s deputies found his wife’s body in the bathtub with bullet wounds, Sheriff Danny Rigel said Monday night.

Percy Harris, 33, was charged with murder and held without bond by District Court Judge Charles Greer after his initial appearance Monday morning. Rigel said Harris was arrested at the scene.

Deputies arrived at the Woodside Drive home about 10:30 p.m. after a 911 call from one of the three juveniles there. Rigel noted that the children were taken in by other family members.

“It’s such a sad thing to happen this time of year, to lose your mother and father right before Christmas,” he said. “The woman’s body was taken to the State Crime Lab in Jackson. We don’t know when the results will be available.”
