Jones County -- Johnson, Ovett and Union volunteer fire departments responded to 36 Maudie Robinson Road to a structure fire before 5:30 a.m. this morning, according to Dana Bumgardner of the Jones County Fire Council.
Ashley Broadhead, who owns the home with her husband, Jody, stated the fire appeared to start on the back porch. The two had been remodeling the porch and had a wood burning heater there, along with lighter knot which was stored by the heater.
Upon arrival, the mobile home was completely engulfed in flames. The occupants were able to evacuate the home with many of their dogs, but two dogs are presumed deceased in the fire. No other injuries were reported.
Emserv Ambulance Service was also on scene.
