Hubfest

By Buster Wolfe

Four words define the excitement that is Hubfest: “Art. Music. Food. Fun.”

The 2019 edition of Hattiesburg’s premier arts and music festival in beautiful Historic Downtown Hattiesburg begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 5 p.m. Saturday, March 30.

Featured in the day’s festivities are four stages of live music, more than 250 arts, crafts and food vendors, and a large children’s area. The one-day festival is free to the public, with the exception of the children’s area, which requires a $10 fee for unlimited all-day play.

Because of the large crowds, pets are not permitted within festival boundaries.

The four stages that will have live music during the day are Main Street, located on North Main Street near Batson Street; the Post Office Stage, on West Pine Street; the Walnut Street Stage, near the Walnut Street and Main Street intersection, and the Town Square Park Stage, in the park.

The North Forrest High School Concert Band kicks off the musical entertainment at 10 a.m. at the Town Square Park Stage. At 11:45 a.m. is Magnolia Bayou, followed by Ty Trehern at 1:30 p.m. and The DLX at 3:30 p.m.

The Post Office Stage starts with The James Rivers Band at 11 a.m. Eric Woods is next at 12:30 p.m., and then comes Taylor Pellegrin at 2 p.m. and Groove House presents 18 miles at 3:30 p.m.

At noon on the Walnut Street Stage is the Twin Forks String Band. Triple Fret follows at 1:30 p.m., then Zack Koch performs at 3 p.m.

Emily Hackett is the first performer on the Main Street Stage, starting at 11:30 p.m. At 1:30 p.m., Trea Landon performs, followed by Jon Langston at 3:30 p.m.

Vendors and crafts artisans will be scattered over a 4-square-block area along Main Street. Adjoining streets will be closed to allow pedestrian traffic.
