A mobile home fire today at 83 Dry Swamp Road, directly behind Powers Fire Station, has led to the displacement of a Jones County family.
Brandi Howse owns the home and lives there with her two children, age 15 and age 11.
The fire started in living room at an electrical outlet and spread to adjoining Christmas tree, which ignited and rapidly spread the flames. Powers, Glade and M&M VFDs responded along with the Jones County Sheriff’s Department. The first responding fire crew forced entry into home while encountering heavy smoke conditions and extinguished the fire. There was heavy fire damage in the living room and heavy smoke damage throughout the home. Fire crews ventilated the structure with portable fans and checked for fire extension. The structure sustained moderate. No one was home at the time of the fire.
No injuries were reported.
