Powers, M & M, Glade, Rustin and Sandersville volunteer fire departments were called to a structure fire in a detached shop at 2038 Highway 184 in the Powers community yesterday at 2:30 p.m. Owner Mike Hunter had been working in the shop until about noon but was inside when his wife reported smoke coming from the shop.
Upon arrival of the first fire units, fire was noted to be through the roof of the large structure. Firefighters were able to prevent injuries and further damage by protecting four propane tanks from the flames.
Jones County Sheriff's Office was also on scene.
