Laurel - Powers Volunteer Fire Department responded to the report of a wreck on Smith Chapel Road near Eastview Drive Wednesday night about 8:40. Upon arrival, firefighters found a four door Dodge Ram 1500 that had struck a tree. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, an adult male, was deceased. The incident was not witnessed.
Emserv Ambulance Service was on scene. Jones County Sheriff’s Department was also on scene and will be investigating the wreck.
