Existing restaurants in Lamar and Forrest counties will be able to sell “grab and go” meals in Lamar County after the Lamar County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Thursday to waive certain regulations in a temporary order at its meeting.
County Administrator Joseph “Jody” Waits said the decision by supervisors was aimed at improving the ability for existing restaurants to serve the public through “Pop-up Eats.”
Waits said some of the items contained in the order includes:
• Only pertains to currently established restaurants in Lamar and Forrest counties.
• Zoning restrictions regulating existing dine-in only businesses are temporarily lifted to allow for curbside/drive-up service.
• Zoning restrictions on the placement of food trucks and mobile food dispersing vehicles are temporarily waived.
• Permitting fees are temporarily waived.
• Businesses are encouraged to partner with neighborhoods and other businesses for placement of food trucks and mobile food dispersing vehicles.
