Tuesday afternoon, April 21, little six-year-old Kennedy was surprised when a convoy of vehicles from the Jones County Sheriff’s Department and Calhoun Fire and Rescue drove by her grandmother’s house in the Pendorff Community with sirens blaring and lights flashing to wish her a happy birthday.
Kennedy has been staying with her grandmother, Melinda Perry, who works at Smokehouse, during the Shelter in Place. Perry wanted Kennedy to have a birthday she wouldn’t forget during these unusual times.

Standing in the front yard of the home, little Kennedy waved franticly as each vehicle passed by. After the last vehicle passed, her grandmother looked down at her and said, “I set this up for you, Kennedy. Happy Birthday. Did you like it?” With a big smile on her face, Kennedy promptly nodded yes.
