UPDATE: A man was treated for a gunshot wound to the leg Tuesday morning after Hattiesburg Police responded to an incident in the parking lot at 6072 U.S. Highway 98, Wal-Mart, about 9:30 a.m.
Officers were told at the scene a victim was shot, and he received an injury to the leg that was not life-threatening. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
During the investigation it has been learned that the victim was shot accidentally by his friend, Mack Hobson of Perry County.
At this time no charges are being pursued in reference to the accidental shooting. However, Hobson is a convicted felon, and Hattiesburg Police are now looking at him for possession of a weapon after a felony conviction.
