During a recent luncheon, the Laurel Board of REALTORS® named the award winners for 2019, which included having twenty-two, multi-million-dollar producers, and eleven, million-dollar producers during the 2019 year.

The LBR Realtor of the Year for 2019 is Glenn Riley with Anchor Real Estate. The Realtor of the Year Award is not based on sales performance but is voted on by members of the local board. The award recognizes a member of the LBR who has provided outstanding service to the local, state and nation Realtor associations, the real estate profession, and the Realtor’s community during his or her period of membership. Riley is the principal broker and owner of Anchor Real Estate, a full-service real estate company based in Laurel. Riley is a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Management with continuing studies in Engineering and Geology. He opened his first company in 1980 and spent the next 40 years working in the oil industry as a Curative and Right-of-Way Specialist. Being a 4th generation oilman and a 3rd generation timberman, it was a natural career choice for Riley as was his transition into residential, recreational, investment and commercial real estate. With his years of experience dealing with land, timber and complex ownership issues, he is uniquely prepared to provide his extensive expertise to his clients to make each transaction as seamless, stress-free and successful as possible. Riley currently holds the real estate designation SREP, Senior Real Estate Professional and is C2EX (Committed to Excellence) certified by the National Association of Realtors. Within the Laurel Board of REALTORS®, Riley currently is serving as a member of the Community Outreach Committee, the Core Standards Committee, the Chairman of the Awards Committee and the Board of Directors. His commitment to the community is not just limited to this one organization. He is a lifetime member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, the American Association of Profession Landman and the Mississippi Association of Petroleum Landman, where he is active in their community efforts along with other local charitable organizations and church groups. Riley is married to Stephany Moore Beverly-Riley, and they have made their home in the Glade community since 2007. They attend Venture Church in Hattiesburg.
The LBR Rookie of the Year for 2019 is Lyon Herrington with Red Fox Realty. The Rookie of the Year Award recognizes a recently licensed Realtor who has accomplished outstanding sales performance and has expanded their understanding of the industry through professional development while giving back to their industry with participation in the association. Herrington is a father of two daughters, Alexis (17) and Myah (13), who attend Laurel Christian School. He is the Director of Sales with ServiceMaster Restoration, where he is a member of the ADP and serves on the education and event committee with the MAA. Herrington has over 20 years of sales experience with buying and selling and flipping properties.
Sandra Vaughn, with Hometown Realty, was awarded the Spirit Award for exemplifying the spirit of the real estate profession and was chosen for her participation in the LBR projects, her ability to work well with fellow real estate agents, and her enthusiasm for the profession. Vaughn has been a Realtor for twenty years. Each year she has been a multi-million-dollar producer. In 2018 she, along with Gale Cooley, opened Laurel Hometown Realty in downtown Laurel. Vaughn has been active in all aspects of the local board, including two terms as president, several years on the Board of Directors, and has served on many committees. She was chosen as the Realtor of the Year in 2015. On the state level, she was selected for the Mississippi Association of Realtors Leadership class and the Honors Leadership class. She presently serves as a Trustee for Mississippi Leadership. In addition, she is on the State Member Services Committee.
Bill Hester, with Anchor Real Estate, was awarded the Pioneer Award, which is given to a Realtor who has achieved twenty-five-plus years of continued dedicated service to the industry. Hester is currently an Associate Broker with Anchor Real Estate based in Laurel. He is a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi, a veteran of the Mississippi National Guard and a lifelong resident of Jones County. While working for NASA in the 1980s, Hester became interested in real estate after an introduction by a friend. He has since spent the last 37 years helping his clients with their real estate needs and can indeed be described as a person "that never meets a stranger." Returning to his home state of Mississippi in the early 1990s, he continued his real estate career, became a Mississippi Appraiser and Real Estate Agent. In 1996, he obtained his license as a Real Estate Broker. He has been associated with many local charities, church and civic groups and can be spotted at many community events offering a helping hand. In 1957, Bill married his childhood sweetheart, Ms Barbara Robertson, together they raised two sons.
Lynn Walton, with Citizens National Bank, was awarded the Affiliate of the Year award. This award recognizes a deserving affiliate who has made outstanding contributions to his or her industry by participating in LBR activities and events. Walton is Vice President and Mortgage Loan Originator at The Citizens National Bank of Meridian. She has worked in the Mortgage Industry for over 30 years and is currently an affiliate member of the Laurel Board of REALTORS® and the Hattiesburg Area Association of REALTORS®. Walton is an active member of the Rotary Club of Hattiesburg and a former member of their board of directors. She is currently serving as a board member of Hope Clinic in Hattiesburg. Walton is a member of First Baptist Church Petal and leads a life group there. She is married to Jimmy Walton, has two children and six grandchildren.
