Jones County, MS -- South, Southwest, Moselle and Calhoun volunteer fire departments responded to an early morning structure fire at 15 Arrington Road outside of Ellisville about 4:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning, February 5. The two story brick home had been unoccupied for several days. Upon arrival a the scene, firefighters found the home fully involved and the roof had collapsed.
Amy Ainsworth, who owns the home with her husband James Ainsworth, stated the couple still had most of their personal property and also four dogs at the residence. Three dogs remain unaccounted for.
The home was discovered by a neighbor who heard something that sounded like an explosion and saw the fire when he went outside to investigate the noise.
Jones County Sheriff's Department and AAA Ambulance Service were also on scene. The circumstances surrounding the fire seem suspicious and will be investigated by Jones County SO and the State Fire Marshal's Office.
