Jones County Sheriff’s Department was informed that a burglary had taken place at South Jones High School on Wednesday, January 29.  Investigator Reuben Bishop was assigned to the case and learned that approximately $210 was taken from the cafeteria, a black jacket was taken from one classroom and a backpack was taken from the gym. After reviewing the school’s video, and obtaining information about the identity of the suspect, a search warrant was conducted at 708 Elm Street in Ellisville and Tyrese Blanks was taken into custody. Blanks was wearing a black jacket at the time of apprehension, which was later identified by two teachers at the school as being the jacket that was taken from the school.Â
Bishop said according to the video, Blanks spent over two hours rummaging through classrooms in the school.
Friday afternoon, January 31, Blanks made his initial appearance before Justice Court Judge Billie Graham with the charge of commercial burglary. Judge Graham denied Blanks bail honoring a request for the bail be revoked due to him being out on bail on a previous charge of aggravated assault from Lamar County.
