Black Creek Wild & Scenic River
When most people think “wild & scenic river,” they think of iconic rivers of the West: tumbling whitewater surrounded by mountains. But deep in the heart of the South lies a different kind of river. Welcome to Black Creek, 21 miles of protected river surrounded by a swath of wilderness on Mississippi’s coastal plain. This long stretch of dark, slow water, with access trails through the forest and canoe launches, provides the chance to go deep and escape the hustle of everyday life. Nothing else like it exists in the deep South.
