Kolton Pearson, the subject of a Saturday manhunt after he fled a Jones County Sheriff's Department traffic stop on Highway 15 South near Ovett, was captured in New Augusta by the Perry County Sheriff's Department Saturday evening after a long search by multiple departments..
According to a statement released Saturday afternoon, a female subject, Amanda Thompson, who was wanted out of Missouri on a felony warrant was captured on the scene Saturday.
The Chrysler Town & Country van the suspect Kolton Pearson was driving was reported stolen out of Missouri. He and his companion, Thompson, who was arrested both have felony warrants out of Missouri with extradition requested.
In a late Saturday evening statement, Jones County Sheriff Joe Berlin notes, "We greatly appreciated Sheriff Mitch Nobles and the Perry County Sheriff's Department for making this apprehension. Additional details on this incident will be released as soon as possible."
Sheriff Berlin concluded his statement, "Our thanks to the many people who called in tips throughout the day and night. One person in particular played a critical role in the capture of Kolton Pearson and his actions will be recognized as appropriate later on."
No injuries were reported at the time of the arrests.
